Vegware, the UK’s only 100% compostable packaging firm, has been shortlisted for Scotland’s top environmental businesses awards – Vision in Business for the Environment of Scotland (VIBES) Awards 2010. The Edinburgh firm, which recently moved to larger premises in Polwarth, is up for Best Product and Best Micro Business.
The judges were impressed by Vegware’s compostable products, which are made entirely of plant-based recycled or renewable materials. They were also impressed by the firm’s innovative approach, regularly developing and launching new products which are unique on the UK market.
Now in its eleventh year, VIBES recognises businesses of all sizes and sectors employing good environmental practice in their daily activity while also making significant financial savings. Vegware was named as one of Edinburgh and Midlothian’s five most environmentally friendly organisations.
Winners will be announced on 1st December at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Glasgow. VIBES winners are eligible to enter the prestigious European Business Awards for the Environment.
Vegware has won a series of awards this year including its key duo, Joe Frankel and Dominic Marjoram, being named ‘Sustainable Development Champions’ in the prestigious Scottish Green List Awards. Vegware also won ‘Best Disposable’ in the Caterer and Hotelkeeper Excellence award for its innovative compostable hot cup lid.
