March has seen more steps forward for Rhubarb Farm. Our horticulturist, Jason Rose, started work on 16th March. The site was ploughed by our farmer neighbour, then harrowed ready for planting. Jason, volunteers and the 3 gardeners have planted hundreds of onions, and the potatoes are ready to go in too.
At the end of March the fencing across the front of the site was erected, although we still have to raise money for the rest of it – about £30,000 still needed, so we are doing some more fund-raising and having an appeal. We are getting increasing requests for work and volunteering placements, so know that we are hitting the mark. An open day on 23rd organised by Bassetlaw CVS attracted more that 50 people to see what opportunities there are on site.
