Rhubarb Farm – May Update
May has been another momentous month because we have finally been fenced in – not the whole site, but the ‘business’ end – which makes our containers and crops now secure from vandalism. We can start building our compost toilet now.
We have been busy planting more crops – peas, runner and climbing beans, and beetroot – and tidying up the site. After the driest April on record our crops have suffered but rain at the end of May has perked them all up – and the weeds too!
We have two volunteer days coming up in June – the first is through DWP, who are sending about 20 Job Centre staff from across Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire to do a day’s volunteering on Rhubarb Farm, and second a volunteering challenge for people living in the Bolsover district.
