Rhubarb Farm – August Update

August has seen the start of our sales of fresh produce from site, after we received requests for it at our Family Fun Day in July. Although we did not plant large quantities, we have potatoes, onions, runner and French beans, cabbages and courgettes for sale and a steady trickle of local residents coming in to buy them.  This is enough for us, as we were not planning to sell veg this year, so it’s a bonus, and it means local people come in and learn about what we are doing. We now have a group of 5 people with learning disability and a team of people paying off community service orders each coming once a week. The learning disability group is our first proper paying placement, which is a good step. And our pumpkins are ripening beautifully – ready for Hallow’en and winter soups!
