Rhubarb Farm – April Update
More big steps forward. On 1st April we employed eight 16-18 year olds – Charmaine, Chris, Danny, Daniel, Curtis, Alex, Evan and Lily. They will work on our Community Supported Agriculture scheme and all take an NVQ2, some in horticulture, some in business admin. We also employed 2 part-time horticulture supervisors – Andy Holdaway and Sharon Storey – to manage the CSA and the apprentices. It is great to be able to offer jobs to so many people. And brilliant news at the end of April we learnt that Tesco Community Fund have awarded us £3,770 for a big polytunnel – just in time to get the salad crops in! The wet weather this month has put a lot of things back but everyone has tried to keep going despite it. And the composting toilet was ready for business and will soon have its own opening ceremony.
