Broomhouse Health Strategy Group – April Update
A great month in Broomhouse, with a new weekly fruit and veg stall now running on a Wednesday morning at Sighthill Health Centre. On the first morning alone we sold over £70 of produce! It means we are now reaching a whole new local audience who aren’t already aware of us in the heart of the local area. So as well as increasing accessibility and affordability of healthy produce, we are able to raise awareness of our services, increasing the number of clients coming to our cookery and exercise classes, walking group or health drop in’s.
Additionally we hosted an exciting day with four Scottish Government Policy Makers, as part of a Learning Exchange programme organised by Community Food & Health Scotland, Community Health Exchange and Voluntary Health Scotland. They spent the day learning all about us, and the issues we face trying to run a local community health project at ground level. The day was a great success with them getting to meet many of our partner organisations, local volunteers and clients. We even got them working with some clients to help make their lunch!
