Lauder Trading Post – May Update
Lauder Trading Post have had an amazing Jubilee weekend. Hosting an almost impossible Jubilee film night showing the King’s Speech, our volunteers managed to black out 20′ skylights to create a community cinema to launch the towns Jubilee programme. We then ran a Vintage Tea Dance on Saturday afternoon, we were delighted to have a great turnout and dancers aged between 3 to 70. Lauder Public Hall was transformed for the event by the skilled and talented crafts people who work in our craft shop. Vegware funding supports this and the whole of Lauderdale has been impressed by the commitment from the volunteers that having the shop on site has created. Many groups and organisation used the hall over the weekend, with our last event only yesterday. So many thanks poured in for LTP but Vegware should share some of the accolade for helping support us during our setting up this project and idea.
There will be a stop motion film of the dancing to follow but time has been really short with all the craziness over the weekend. Vegware support for our shop has created a really interesting volunteer commitment scheme the Scottish Borders Council are considering trying to roll out similar project in other public building across the area from the success to date of this pilot.
