Community Fund – Calder Food Hub – September Update

Calder Food Hub is working in partnership with the Hebden Bridge Community Association to host Hebden Bridge’s first Food and Drink Festival on the 20th- 28th October. Following the devastating summer of flooding, the intent of the festival is to put Hebden Bridge back on the map by celebrating the wealth and diversity of our local food producers and retailers.

Events that will be taking place during the festival include a ‘Meet the Producers’ evening, where local retailers will be invited to meet the ‘growers, rearers and makers’ of our fine local foods, the Night Market, where we will be encouraging people ‘to eat on the street’ and gorilla (yes we know its spelt wrong!) gardening with a couple of furry friends, who will be filling the flower beds with rhubarb and herbs.

We will also be asking local traders to accept our local food challenge, which is to produce at least one dish from ingredients sourced within a 30 mile radius of Hebden Bridge.
