Community Fund – WREN – November Update

WREN launched the Wadebridge local currency (in the form of Wr.25 notes, worth £25).  These can be spent in 50 local businesses and are redeemed by WREN at £22.50, thus generating a small surplus for the WREN community fund.

We have now completed our current programme of free cavity and loft insulation. We have insulated 95 homes producing an estimated energy saving of £7845 per year, and saving 33.5 tonnes of CO2 annually.  In addition the programme generated £1975 for local businesses in the form of our local currency given away with each installation.

The WREN Board decided to launch the WREN Energy Company.  The first step is to assemble an investible portfolio; to achieve this we are seeking local roofs on which to mount solar Pv.  Investors will receive a competitive return n their money while the participating householders will get the benefit of the free electricity they use.

We have negotiated an arrangement with Good Energy who supply 100% renewable electricity.  People who sign up with them receive Wr.25 with an additional donation going into the community fund.
