Calder Food Hub braved the cold on New Years Eve to sell out handmade ‘local’ mince pies and hot spiced English apple juice to chilly Carol Singers. We are working hard on raising our profile in Hebden Bridge and adding a ‘local food’ dimension to community events. The carol service takes place after dark in St George’s Sq in the centre of town and is attended by several hundred people.
Calder Food Hub’s mince filling was made with a blend of stored soft fruits, local apples and seasonal jams all sourced from the gardens of the food hub team. Around two hundred pies were given out along with a foodie christmas card, stating the aims of the Hub and advertising our website, www.calderfoodhub.org.uk
