No time to waste – sign up to WRAP’s voluntary agreement on Hospitality and Foodservice
If you know anything about Vegware, then you’ll know we’re passionate about sustainability. That’s why we’re a founding supporter of WRAP’s new voluntary agreement on Hospitality and Foodservice. This voluntary agreement is bringing together the whole foodservice sector to work towards two targets:
- Prevention target: Reduce food and associated packaging waste arising by 5% by the end of 2015. This will be against a 2012 baseline and be measured by CO2e emissions.
- Waste management target: Increase the overall rate of food and packaging waste being recycled, sent to anaerobic digestion (AD) or composted to at least 70% by the end of 2015.
We have already been helping caterers to boost their recycling for years – that’s what we do, together with our zero waste initiative the Food Waste Network. All our packaging is suitable for food waste recycling, and much is also suitable for dry recycling. We are closely involved in the voluntary agreement, and are on two working groups: packaging and waste management. If you are a food business looking to reduce costs as well as reduce your environmental impact, get in touch with us. And make sure you sign up to WRAP’s voluntary agreement – be a part of the zero waste movement.
