Community Fund – WREN – January Update

WREN membership is now approaching 800 and steadily growing.  We are currently organising a town-wide marketing campaign to make local people even more aware of the services we offer. The WREN Board have agreed to go ahead with forming the WREN Energy Company which would be a sister organisation to WREN with the powers to raise share and investment capital.  The aim would be for WREN  to invest directly in its own energy generation technology. The next stage is to develop an investable portfolio of projects against which money can be raised. WREN is hopeful that it will be able to develop its own wind project, with the prospect that this will generate very significant sums of money for local community use.   Development of such a project is a long term venture and we are very aware that the anti-wind lobby is becoming increasingly well organised and vocal.
