Vegware talks foodie careers at Green Careers Event
We had a great morning at Eco Schools Scotland’s Green Careers in Food and Drink Industry Event. It provided a platform for Scotland’s leading ethical businesses and pupils from 20 secondary schools to chat about eco-friendly opportunities within the food and drink sector. It was a learning curve for them, and for us!
The morning started with an icebreaker game, which was certainly fun and exciting as we had 90 seconds to answer quickfire questions! The next exercise was a chance for students to ask about Vegware, and how we pursued our careers. They were amazed at our plastic-free and compostable products, and we were delighted by their enthusiasm.
Overall this event proved one thing, the younger generation is keen to be green. Their interest, knowledge and enthusiasm were evident throughout the event. It was a great opportunity to communicate with schools and show them what we can do to help.
I am a student at Edinburgh Napier University studying Marketing, and am working at Vegware for my six-month placement. It’s strange as I am only three years older than some of the pupils, but it was great to see that there are similarities, such as ethical and environmental interests. And as Vegware is a company who believes in strong ethics, we are keen to share our green passions and inspire the next generation.
Do you have any thoughts about inspiring pupils into ethical careers? If so, please leave a comment.
Thanks,
Kat
