Community Fund – Royal Edinburgh Community Gardens – February Update
Our new Garden Coordinator, Michala Phifer, has now joined us. She’ll be starting on Wednesday March 6th, and we’re all looking forward to welcoming her on board. She says:
“I am delighted to be joining the team at the Royal Edinburgh Community Gardens. I know from Hillary that there are a really great team of dedicated volunteers who make the place what it is; a tranquil and beautiful growing space. I’m very much looking forward to meeting everyone who is involved and working with them in this lovely space. “
A very warm welcome to Michala and looking forward to a great Spring in the gardens.
Our toolshed has finally arrived!!! We’re going to put it up on March 12th and 13th for those of you who are enjoy building flat packs!! The more help the better, please come along if you can to help us put this up and spring clean the portacabin.
It’s been a busy February, and well done to everyone for keeping the gardens in such amazing shape even though we’ve been without a permanent garden coordinator over the last month. The glasshouses are looking lovely with all the hundreds of young seedlings growing, and all the seed potatoes for the year have arrived!
Many thanks as well to our sessional workers: Rob Davidson, Robbie Millar, and Dave Lacey for pitching and helping keep the gardens going over the last two months, and a special thank you to John Place, for the planting plans, Eddie and Hunter for taking care of all the day to day things, and to Laura for keeping the facebook page updated with her lovely pictures.
Finally, Rhys Sinton will be joining us in March for a six month placement and will be working with us through until August, a very warm welcome to Rhys.
