This weekend I volunteered at a school for children with special needs called the Cedar Center. We were helping to create a new raised bed area with benches and paths on the school grounds. Previously students only access to green space was a 10 minute walk away from the school, so their time there was very limited due to the time it took to get there and back. This new area, which is over looked by the school office and staff room, is ideal for the children to grow vegetables and herbs. It will also be a safe place of calm for the students, if they need time out or just want to enjoy being in a green space.
