Community Fund – Broomhouse Health Strategy Group – May Update

There has been a flurry of cooking activity this month, with “Cooking Up Story” after school sessions taking place at Broomhouse Primary School – some great story telling with fun and original cooking activities combined, for parents to do with their youngsters.  The stories ranged from The Gruffalo to The Hungry Catapillar and The Runaway Pancake.  Its a great way for parents to bond with their kids, and it give both them and their children confidence to be creative with food.  We also took part in the School Health Week activities at St Joseph’s Primary and Broomhouse Primary – which involved making and eating fun fruit faces, healthy smoothies, and over 300 cupcakes, all containing either carrot, beetroot or courgette.  Who says cakes can’t be healthy!  They were all sold the following day to raise money for the school at their Sports Day and were much loved by pupils and parents alike!

We’ve added yet more recipes to our range of meal sold at the Fruit & Veg Shop.  You can now get a Cauliflower and Potato Curry for £2.50 and a Lentil Dahl for just 70p!  They come complete with easy to follow recipe, so why not try one!
