Community Fund – Health Strategy Group – September update
As we head into the cooler weather our 12 varieties of Soup Bags (all the fresh ingredients, stock cube and simple recipe for £1) have been flying out the door – do come and have a look at our wide range, and the range of Recipe Bags, for entire meals. Some of our customers have been working their way down the list!
You may have seen on TV our Project Co-coordinator, Lucy Aitchison who was presenting at the Nourish Conference in Edinburgh at the start of the month. BBC Reporting Scotland came out to film in one of the cookery classes and in the shop, to illustrate the great work we do, and that would be good to see more of! Presenting at the conference was a great chance to talk about our work and the issues we face, trying to make eating healthily more sustainable in terms of accessibility, cost and the environment.
We also held an Awareness Event at Sighthill Health Centre, to raise awareness of all we do, not just with the centre users, but also all the medical staff working with patients who could benefit from some of our services. It was a great morning and we’ve already seen lots of new faces in the shop as a result.
We also found out we’re one of the winners of the Active Citizens of Europe Awards, and one of our staff members is off to Bucharest to go the Awards event!
