Community Fund – Lauder Trading Post – October Update
Hard work and a tin of gloss paint have seen our little group of volunteers transform a basement workshop given to us by our new hosts in Galashiels. The space has been transformed into a kitsch, vintage community cooperative shop. We held a Switching Night to celebrate our new project and launched our Recycle with Style theme for this autumn/winter craft schedule. Our shop will have made, found and donated items and we have already recruited another 3 volunteers since unveiling and hope to double this before the shop launch in November.
This month our sewing lessons have continued to grow in popularity and an additional support worker has joined to help out. The Upcycle group has continues to beautify the shop and garden space and work on some furniture for sale. We have also had some lovely season children’s crafting at the weekends using leaves and pinecones to create almost cost free activities.
