Community Fund – Cilgwyn Community Group – April Update

Members attended a conference on marine energy, and contributed ideas and follow up discussion with the head regulator in Wales. There was huge excitement at the potential of the waves and tide to produce clean everlasting energy for Wales.

 

We have supported tidal energy in different ways down the years, and in particular the device invented by local man, Richard Ayre. And after a ridiculous number of years it is finally due to be deployed in the sea this August. It will produce 400kwatts, as it is a test model. It will go in Ramsey Sound off Pembrokeshire coast, and how the dolphins and porpoises and seals get on with it will be watched with underwater sensors.
