Community Fund – Broomhouse Health Strategy Group – September Update
The cooking and exercise sessions have resumed after the summer break, and have been proving very popular and much enjoyed by everyone. The recipes cooked are simple, healthy and wholesome, for example one sessions recipes were tuna and sweetcorn fishcakes, salad and poached pears – last week was mushroom pilaf rice and chocolate and beetroot cake! We’ve also been getting the participants to feedback on the Scottish Government’s Good Food Nation consultation document – giving their views on what would make a difference to them.
We’re delighted to announce that we’re starting a new series of exercise classes – Chair Exercises, for older people, in St David’s Church Hall on a Wednesday morning. The first taster session was a great success with 8 people coming along, and lots more are interested and planning to join the group. So this increases our range of physical activity opportunities in the area! We now have aerobics on a Monday, a buggy walking group on a Thursday and our normal walking group on a Friday!
