Community Fund – Batley Girls’ High School – September Update

UntitledAs I write this report inside the farm office it would have been interesting if the sound of the howling wind could have been transmitted along with the visuals of cascading rain driving across the playing fields and slamming into the poly-tunnel, office and stables. We look to be in for several days of poor weather. All the animals other than the ducks have retreated under cover – a couple of fish can’t understand what all the fuss is about!

Students who are involved with helping hands activities deliver produce to staff members. The building of the raised beds project linked with the farm continues to be built along with the renovating of several garden areas around the school with staff and students of the Gardening club.

Untitled1With the autumnal leaf drop well underway we see our recycling bins coming back into full swing. The leaf colour changes providing an ideal opportunity for the more artistic within the school .

The school’s open evening on Thursday 18th September was well received and the planned activity  to make some goat’s milk soap with our supportive TRA members was a hit. Lavender and Mint from our own gardens were blended into the goats milk (sadly not our own produce) to make some wonderful and fragrant soaps.
