Community Fund – Rhubarb Farm – October Update

In October we were able to employ Djay Emery, a volunteer who came to us aged 18 on a programme for ex-offenders. He has worked hard, shown interest in horticulture and looked after our hens, so when the post of Gardener was funded by the Lottery’s Talent Match programme, to help young people into work, he was the best candidate at interview.
Well done Djay. It is wonderful to be able to give a committed young unemployed person a full time job. Djay, who lives with his grandparents, said “It’s great now because I can give my grandma some money each week towards my keep.”
We also hosted another Corporate Day for DWP Job Centre workers, and they built new compost bays for the Farm.
