Closing the loop on matchdays
We are passionate about proving that composting works in real life. Our products can be found in cafés, canteens, festivals, and now on the football pitch. That’s why we’re delighted to announce our new partnership with Forest Green Rovers, the world’s greenest football club, and Grundon.
From this season, fans at The Bolt New Lawn will enjoy their matchday food and drink in Vegware’s plant-based compostable packaging. But this isn’t just about swapping packaging. It’s about closing the loop.
Working alongside our in-house waste consultants, Grundon is putting systems in place at Forest Green Rovers to make sure our packaging is captured and sent for composting. The result? Nutrient-rich compost that can go back into the earth to grow more plants.

Why this matters
- Plant-based packaging in action: Forest Green Rovers fans will be served in compostable cups, takeaway boxes and cutlery.
- Clear bin systems: Our consultancy team is supporting the club with simple, effective recycling solutions to keep contamination low.
- Closing the loop: With Grundon, the collected packaging is transformed into compost.
- Sport inspiring change: Forest Green Rovers are showing how sustainability can be woven into matchday culture.
Eilidh O’Connor, Head of Environmental at Vegware, explains:
“Forest Green Rovers share our vision for a world where sustainability is built into everyday choices. By combining our compostable packaging with our consultancy expertise, and working closely with Grundon , we can help the club build on their brilliant track record and make it even easier for fans and staff to do the right thing. Together, we’re proving that sport can be a powerful platform for sustainable change.”
This partnership is proof that when organisations work together, we can make sustainability simple, visible, and effective.
