Composting with St Peter’s School, York

Founded by St. Paulinus of York in AD 627, St Peter’s School in York is one of the oldest schools in the world. This steeping in tradition has not prevented them from looking for new, innovative ways to be more sustainable. This is how composting with St Peter’s School became a reality.

Working with Vegware and our waste partners in Yorkshire, Forge, St Peter’s closed the loop on their food waste and compostable packaging in 2022 and haven’t looked back.

Don’t take our word for it

“As a school we are very conscious of how much food waste etc. goes into land fill or is incinerated. We feel strongly about not adding to this, but by composting we are doing our bit for the environment. We are also going to use some of the compost we have helped to make in our school gardens and are planning on setting up a herb and vegetable patch.”

“We feel Vegware products are very good, there is so much choice and the product is  are strong and hard wearing. Forge provide me with the tools to be able to compost the food and compostable disposables.”
